Where you'll work?
You'll be part of a team that build and refurbish substations on projects across the East of England.
Reporting into the Managing Quantity Surveyor, you’ll play a key role in keeping the commercial side of your projects on track. You’ll work closely with teams across Operations, Finance and Procurement to make sure everything is delivered smoothly, while keeping a strong handle on costs, contracts and commercial controls. You’ll be part of a wider team including QSs, Commercial Admins, Procurement and Finance – all working together to deliver the best outcomes for your projects.

What you’ll be doing
- Support the commercial management of projects, helping to ensure costs, contracts and performance are effectively controlled.
- Assist with preparing valuations and applications for payment, ensuring submissions are accurate and on time.
- Support the administration of NEC contracts, including early warnings, compensation events and contractual notices.
- Help monitor project costs, cashflow and margins, identifying risks and opportunities where they arise.
- Work closely with operational, finance and procurement teams to support successful project delivery.
- Assist in managing client queries, payment matters and commercial issues in a professional manner.
- Support the management of subcontractor accounts, including payments, variations and final accounts.
- Help produce CVRs, forecasts and commercial reports to provide clear visibility of project performance.
- Maintain accurate records, commercial documentation and project data.
- Learn from and collaborate with senior commercial team members, building your knowledge and experience within the business.
What you'll bring
- Around 1-3 years' experience in an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Assistant or similar role within construction or infrastructure.
- Some knowledge of NEC contracts and a desire to further develop your contract management skills.
- Experience supporting valuations, cost reporting and subcontractor account management.
- A strong commercial awareness with excellent attention to detail.
- Good communication and relationship-building skills.
- A proactive and organised approach, with the confidence to take ownership of your work.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider project team.
- Strong Excel and general IT skills.
- A genuine interest in developing your career within quantity surveying and commercial management.
- Full UK driving licence.
