Delivering essential infrastructure services for life, while being safety first, and client and customer centric in a friendly, fun and respectful environment where you are encouraged to thrive.
Where will you be working?
At M Group Telecom, we’re enabling and enhancing telecom networks, playing a lead role in the delivery of our tech enabled future.
We deliver full network cycle services for fixed, private and mobile operators.
This role will be within our private networks. We find the best technology, manage assets and refresh systems. With 24/7 network operations, we keep things running smoothly, while operating comprehensive network repair and maintenance to keep everything in top shape.
Want to come and be a part of it?
We are looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our growing team. This role would particularly suit someone with a background in the telecommunications sector, although we would also welcome applications from candidates with experience across utilities, rail, infrastructure or other regulated industries. The successful candidate will combine strong electrical engineering knowledge with proven design experience, helping to deliver innovative and compliant solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects.
This role offers a flexible working arrangement, combining remote working, office collaboration and site visits. Candidates can be based anywhere in the UK; however, regular engagement with colleagues, clients and stakeholders is an important part of the position. As such, the successful candidate should be willing to travel to project sites and attend meetings in Coventry and other locations as required to support project delivery and team collaboration.
What will you be doing?
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and delivering high-quality electrical designs that support the successful delivery of telecommunications and infrastructure projects. You will create detailed design packages, including electrical calculations, schematics, single-line diagrams, layouts, technical specifications and supporting documentation for power distribution systems, telecommunications equipment and associated infrastructure.
Working closely with project managers, engineers, operational teams and clients, you will contribute throughout the full project lifecycle, from initial feasibility and site assessments through to installation, commissioning and project completion. You will carry out technical evaluations, design calculations and system modelling activities to ensure solutions are safe, compliant, reliable and cost-effective.
You will play a key role in maintaining design quality and consistency, ensuring all work complies with relevant industry regulations, standards and client requirements. You will also support design reviews, risk assessments and continuous improvement initiatives while providing technical expertise to resolve engineering challenges and improve project outcomes. As part of an evolving and innovative industry, you will stay informed of new technologies, best practice and regulatory developments, helping to drive improvements in design methodologies and engineering performance.
What you’ll bring
You will have proven experience within an electrical design environment and possess a strong understanding of electrical systems, design principles and engineering best practice. Experience within the telecommunications sector is highly desirable, although applications from candidates with backgrounds in utilities, rail, infrastructure or other related industries will also be considered.
You will be confident producing detailed technical drawings, specifications, calculations and design documentation, with experience using design software such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent packages. A sound understanding of electrical distribution systems, cabling infrastructure and telecommunications equipment is essential, together with knowledge of relevant electrical standards, regulations and health and safety requirements.
The ideal candidate will be an analytical problem solver who can develop practical and effective engineering solutions while balancing technical, commercial and operational considerations. You will be comfortable working with a range of stakeholders, communicating technical information clearly and building strong working relationships across multidisciplinary teams. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously are essential.
A qualification in Electrical Engineering, such as an HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent, would be advantageous; however, we are equally interested in candidates who can demonstrate substantial relevant industry experience and technical expertise.
