Where will you be working?
We help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards. This role will be within our Water and wastewater capital project delivery team. Our teams deliver large-scale capital programmes aimed at keeping water infrastructure resilient for the long-term while protecting the environment.

What will you be doing?
As a Project Engineer, you'll play a key role in delivering complex projects safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You'll interpret designs and technical specifications, provide engineering solutions to support construction activities, and ensure all works comply with client requirements, industry regulations, and company standards. Working closely with project teams, designers, subcontractors, and suppliers, you'll resolve technical challenges, support planning and sequencing of works, and help keep projects on track through effective progress monitoring and problem-solving.
You'll champion quality, safety, and assurance by maintaining inspection and test plans, conducting site inspections and audits, overseeing technical documentation, and ensuring compliance with HSE requirements and safe systems of work. You'll also collaborate across engineering, planning, commercial, and SHEQ functions, providing technical input into project meetings, reporting progress, managing engineering records, and supporting the commercial team with evidence relating to variations, risks, and claims. Throughout, you'll act as the technical lead for your allocated work packages, providing expert engineering support to the wider project team.
What you’ll bring
- Do you have experience in civil engineering or utilities construction, ideally in a site‑based role?
- Have you got the ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and standards, and provide buildability input?
- Do you have experience developing ITPs, managing quality processes, and verifying compliance?
- Have you got a good understanding of programme development, progress monitoring, and risk identification?
- Do you have good working knowledge of HSE regulations and industry best practice?
- Are you someone who has strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively?
- Do you have relevant qualifications in civil engineering, construction management, and/or a related discipline, or equivalent experience gained through vocational training, apprenticeships, or on‑the‑job learning?
- Do you hold and CSCS card (mandatory for site access) and SMSTS certification?
- Have you gained Temporary Works Supervisor / Temoratory Works Coordinator qualification?
- Do you have a valid driving licence?
- Do you have working knowledge of AutoCAD and engineering tools? - This is desirable
- Have you got BIM awareness? This is desirable
- Do you have sector specific qualifications (e.g EUSR Water Hygiene, SHEA Power, SHEA Telecom) - This is desirable
